Nova Scotia Census Records - Pictou County - 18511851 Census of Nova Scotia - Pictou County - Polling Districts 1-22
Pictou County was divided up into three districts for this census. The buttons (S1 to S11) cover the Pictou district, the buttons (S12 to S18) cover the Egerton district, and the buttons (S19 to S22) cover the Maxwelton district. Unfortunately, some of the districts are unnamed. It appears that the same districts were used in the 1861 census. If this is so, then the names are as follows:Pictou, Caribou, Cape John, West Side River John, West Branch River John, Rogers Hill, Hardwood Hill, Green Hill & West River, Mount Thom, Gairloch, New Larig, Albion Mines, New Glasgow, Little Harbour, McLellan's Mountain, East Branch East River, Hopewell, West Branch East River, Middle River, Gulf Shore, Barney's River, Merigomish, & Blue Mountain, St. Mary's, etc.
