Census Search Help

This search box is used to search the census records only. This search function works like any other search engine. Simply type in a name, a year, and a location if you know it, to help narrow down your search. In the resulting page, choose a link to see the results. You will be taken to the main page for that census year, and the county the name was found in. In addition, the district you selected by clicking the link will also be automatically be selected. You will be presented with all the census data in the form of a table.


To further narrow down your search, type the name or a few letters of the name you are looking for in the green box above the last name box.	The table will then automatically resize, with the letters you typed shown highlighted in yellow.	To clear the search box, use the backspace key, or select all the text, and click delete, or click the clear filters button to the right of the help link at the top of the table.

You can also print the census trancription by clicking the link "Click Here To Print This Transcription" near the bottom of the page. When you click this link, a new window will open, which contains the census data only. If you want to print the whole page, press CTRL & P on your windows PC, or CMD & P on your Mac to open the print dialog box. Then click print. If you want to print only the names you are interested in, use the search filter box as you did before to narrow down your search. When you are ready to print, press CTRL & P on your windows PC, or CMD & P on your Mac to open the print dialog box. Then click print.

BMD Search Help

This search box is used to search the baptism/marriage/burial records only. This search function works like any other search engine. Simply type in a name, a place, and a county if you know it, to help narrow down your search. This search engine does not search for specific years, due to the way the original documents were laid out. In the resulting page, choose a link to see the results. You will be taken to the main page for that area, and the county the name was found in. In addition, the church you selected by clicking the link will also be automatically be selected. You will be presented with all the BMD data in the form of a table.


To further narrow down your search, type the name or a few letters of the name you are looking for in the green box above the last name box. This family tree web site contains information that has been collected over more than thirty years about the genealogy and history of the Meisner, Barrett, Caudle, Williams, Bonhomme, Boutilier, Noonan, Crandall, Begin, Taillon, Lalonde and Contant families of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec. This site also contains comprehensive Nova Scotia Census Records for all the available years, as well as Church Parish Birth/Marriage/Death Records and Cemetery Records.

Click on the "Search Panel" tab at the top of the page. Once the panel is open, you will be able to search either the family tree database or the census records database. To see more menu options, close the top panel and click the words "Main Menu" at the top of the screen.

We have added the 1881 & 1901 & 1911 census for Lunenburg County to the site. Yes... We know... They are available free elsewhere, and have been for years, but now, you can use the Census Search Engine to search for names in Lunenburg County from 1770-1911 inclusive.

May 5, 2012. We have added the 1838 & 1881 census for Queens County to the site.

May 6, 2012. We have added the 1770 & 1827 census for Queens County to the site.

May 13, 2012. We have added the 1891 census for Queens County to the site.

February 13, 2013. We have added Methodist Church Baptisms and Marriages for Lunenburg County to the BMD section of the site.
