Priests:

Rev Neil McLeod was the parish priest of East Bay from 1838 to 1891 (its first Priest as a separate parish after dividing from Grand Narrows), and to the East Bay missions, which in 1838 were Main-a-Dieu & Louisbourg (independent in 1846) , Red Islands (independent in 1860) and Grand Mira, which became independent in 1871.  In 1845 Rev McDonald began to keep a separate register for Grand Mira, and a few of his earlier baptisms at Grand Mira were entered into it at the request of local residents, based on their own family records.  While the schedule was not fixed, Rev McDonald paid pastoral visits to Grand Mira every three months or so, which explains why children there were baptized weeks or months after the usual Roman Catholic practice of baptisms within days of birth.
