MARK GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Wagner CENTRAL PORT MOUTON, Jan. 2 -- Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Wagner celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage Sunday, Dec. 30th, at their home, Central Port Mouton. They were at home to relatives and friends during the afternoon and evening and received a number of cards and a large bouquet of flowers. Married at Liverpool-- Married at Liverpool in 1895 by Rev. Z.L. Fash, pastor at that time, they have lived at Port Mouton all of their married life except for two years spent in Liverpool and five years in Portland and Cambridge, U.S.A. Mrs. Wagner was the former Syretha Cooke, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Cooke of Port Mouton. They have two daughters, Vera, Mrs. Stanley Atkinson, Central Port Mouton and Ressa, Mrs. S. Bruce Chandler, Liverpool; also seven grandchildren (two of whom served in World War II) and one great-grandson. Mr. Wagner is a carpenter by trade and still does odd jobs at his work. He is an ordained deacon of the Baptist Church here and was for a number of years superintendent of the Sunday School. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wagner enjoy fair health for their 73 years. Mr. Wagner being especially active. Mrs. Wagner has been poorly for the past year, but has improved so she can now manage her housework. Both are flower lovers, and their large flower garden is the beauty spot of the community in Summer. Last year Mr. Wagner planted over 200 gladioli bulbs, besides the dahlias, of which he has a large variety and other flowers. |

HONORED ON SILVER ANNIVERSARY -- Bridgewater, Jan. 3 -- Mr. and Mrs.Robert Miller were guests of honor at a surprise party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Taylor on Tuesday evening, January 1, the day being the 25th anniversary of their marriage. About 25 friends were present and the honored guests were presented with gifts of silverware, with a presentation being made by E. ?ines who also gave an appropriate address. A social evening was had, with a delightful sing-song, with Mrs. D. L. Kennedy presiding at the piano. At the refreshment hour, Mrs. ? Minard, Milton, sister of the ? poured and Mrs. V. L. ?son, Mrs. Frank Hiseler, Miss ? Hiseler and Mrs. McLachlin assisted in serving. RESIDED IN WEST Mr. Miller was formerly of Ontario.; Mrs. Miller was before marriage Miss Ida Baker, daughter of Allan Baker and the late Al? Baker of Bridgewater. They married at Regina Sask. Jan. 1, 1921 by the Rev. P. C. Reid who had formerly been the pastor of the Bridgewater Baptist Church. Following their marriage they lived in the West, where Mr. Miller was a grain inspector in Saskatchewan and Alberta until twelve years ago when, with their two sons, they moved to Bridgwater. Mr. and Mrs. Miller are both interested in the welfare of the community and are active workers at the Baptist Church. |
